Survivor: Maldives was the eleventh installment of Survivor's Survivor Series, which premiered on June 10th, 2014 and ended with a live reunion on July 4th, 2014.
Production[]
This season featured 4 returning players, all who deserved a second chance, coming back with four friends of their choice to lead a tribe. The tribes for this season were Addu, wearing red-orange buffs, Naifaru, wearing yellow buffs, Gan, wearing green buffs and Mula, wearing blue buffs. All four tribes were named after towns, cities and villages in Maldives. The tribes then merged into the black Pennsatucky, which is a reference to a character from Orange is the New Black.
Twists[]
- Hidden Immunity Idols: There was one hidden idol placed in each tribe camp, which could be found by looking in the correct time slot. There was also an extra hidden idol in the post-merge camp.
- Tribe Switch: On Day 10, the Ankara and Ordu tribes underwent a tribe switch, mixing up the tribes.
- Four-Tribe Format: For the first time in the series, the tribes were divided into four tribes instead of the usual two. The eighth season, Survivor: All-Stars, was the first season to have more than two tribes, having three.
